My work as a visual artist crosses several disciplines including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, installation, craft and sculpture.
All of my work is based in the environment in its widest sense. It is strongly connected to different places, and explores how people engage with them and how they shape identity.
I make work as a response to the context and language of a particular place, often in remote areas. Sometimes that involves a journey, exploring the boundaries and transitions of place and time, and sometimes one specific place. I'm particularly drawn to the sea, islands and the extreme reaches of land.
I'm interested in researching and reimagining the history and memory of different places, and am attracted to locations and buildings that can be quietly unsettling. Much of my work explores the built or industrial environment in the landscape.
